Playwriting Competition Details
The brief is to create a half hour script suitable for two male and
two female actors. The subject matter is open but all plays must be dialogue-based
requiring minimal props and sets. We are looking for original and powerful scripts
which will provide our regular Scarborough audience with thought-provoking and engaging
drama.
All scripts to be submitted by post by September 1st 2006. The three plays submitted
that, in the company's opinion, best suit the brief and their style of fringe theatre,
will be performed by The Valley Theatre Company during their Autumn/Winter season of 2006.
Supporting publicity will be generated, including a Yorkshire-based press release.
Competition rules -
All entries must be -
- Submitted by post by September 1st 2006.
- Typed on A4 paper with double line spacing.
- Printed in a clear font with numbered pages.
- Have at the front a title page and a list of characters.
- Include a short covering letter telling us about your writing experience to date.
Include a stamped addressed envelope, manuscript size, if you wish to have your play returned to you.
Please include a cheque for £5.00, made payable to The Valley Theatre Company for each
script you wish to submit.
All plays received without a cheque for the entrance fee or without the full amount of postage will be recycled.
