Mount Arrarat after the flood; God's covenant with creation.

Gen 8:8-9   Gen 8:21-22

Gen 9:12-17

GOD made a covenant with his creation after the waters of his flood receded and Noah made the Offering GOD had commanded of him. This was GOD's merciful salvation through the Ark he commanded Noah to build1 Pet 3:20-22. In later generations he show his mercy in bringing "Israel" out of bondage in Egypt and established another covenant with his chosen people. He told them through Moses to build the Ark of the Covenant holding the law he gave Moses (Exodus 25:21). The Ark included the Mercy Seat from which GOD would meet and speak with Moses from between the two cherubim.(Exodus 25:22). The last reference to the known location of The Ark of the Covenant is in II Chronicles 35:3. It went missing and will not be found till Jesus returns. Jesus was the symbolic representation of wood and gold in the old testament. It will be found in the form of Jesus which it represented symbolically in the Old Testament in the New Testament Rev 21:22-23 as the light of the Temple. Jesus sent his angel to his servant John (Rev 1:1) and Jesus spoke in his own words, (Rev 22:7) "Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

We kept getting glimpses of Mount Arrarat in the distance while on military travel which was the other side of the mountain from this view. I had not known that the mountain of Arrarat even existed except in the bible, and it sure captured my imagination. Was the Ark really still there somewhere, and if so a flood that could put the Ark on that Mountain Range must have been exactly as the bible described it. I doubted greatly and did not walk in the faith back then, but this started a quest that reached another summit within my soul and spirit twenty two years later at mom's funeral. I asked JESUS to forgive my sins, gave my life to him and he saved me 31 Aug 2002. Thank you LORD JESUS, I SHALL SHOUT IT FROM THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN. JESUS SAVES! It was amazing that we were aware of our surroundings. We had a bout with probable food poisioning and were dehydrated after two or three days in the area but were fortunate to partially recover in about a week. Our bus took us through and over the back part of the Arrarat Mountains along the way to a little village called Sunday, Pazar in Turkish, near the town of Rize along the Black Sea coast. We could peer over the border into Russia on the banks of the Black Sea. The villages and small cities that were named after days in the week derived their names from which day the Black Sea ferry from Russia to Turkey stopped there. I think there were the towns of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday that we learned of. This was when the USSR still existed and the Hostages in Iran were about 160 miles away from where we stayed about a week in Eastern Turkey. They were just over the Border inside Iran. This was before I retired from the US Air Force. That part of the Black sea just over the border is now the Country of Georgia, formerly of the USSR. The mountain range scenery is very attractive from a bus window. It offers tree lined streams down steep grades, and snow capped summits above the tree line on the northwest side of the Arrarat Range of mountains as they approach the Black Sea coast. The air is cool and crisp and fresh albeit thin at altitude near the summits. I kept a photo I am in of the military team taken on a mountain top with a very small grey area in the background that is another mountain top. The photo is black and white so you can not tell that the surroundings where we were at were green with tea plant leaves covering the mountains on the Turkish side of the border. The small grey mountain area in the photo is on the Russian side of the border in the background; it was striking because the landscape went from lush green tea plant covered mountains to start grey stone barren mountains at the Russian Border. That stark difference stuck in my mind, on this side of the border democracy and green very attractive tea plant leaves between the Black Sea and Russia; the border could be easily be determined by gray barren exposed stone mountains where Russia began and Turkey ended.

The ark reveals both the judgment and mercy of God. His righteous judgment is seen in the destruction of the wicked, but His mercy and care are demonstrated in His preservation of Noah, and, through him, of the human race. The ark is a striking illustration of Christ, who preserves us from the flood of divine judgment through His grace.

Jesus spoke about Noah's time in his words in the New Testament. We must heed them or are in great peril the urgency is great.
Matthew 24: 37 to 44.
"37. When the Son of Man appears, things will be just as they were when Noah lived.
38. People were eating, drinking, and getting married right up to the day that the flood came and Noah went into the big boat.
39. They didn’t know anything was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man appears.
40. Two men will be in the same field, but only one will be taken. The other will be left.
41. Two women will be together grinding grain, but only one will be taken. The other will be left.
42. So be on your guard! You don’t know when your Lord will come.
43. Homeowners never know when a thief is coming, and they are always on guard to keep one from breaking in.
44. Always be ready! You don’t know when the Son of Man will come."

Luke 17: 24 to 30.
"24. The day of the Son of Man will be like lightning flashing across the sky.
25. But first he must suffer terribly and be rejected by the people of today.
26. When the Son of Man comes, things will be just as they were when Noah lived.
27. People were eating, drinking, and getting married right up to the day when Noah went into the big boat. Then the flood came and drowned everyone on earth.
28. When Lot lived, people were also eating and drinking. They were buying, selling, planting, and building.
29. But on the very day Lot left Sodom, fiery flames poured down from the sky and killed everyone.
30. The same will happen on the day when the Son of Man appears."

Hebrews 11:7. Because Noah had faith, he was warned about something that had not yet happened. He obeyed and built a boat that saved him and his family. In this way the people of the world were judged, and Noah was given the blessings that come to everyone who pleases God.
21. Those flood waters were like baptism that now saves you. But baptism is more than just washing your body. It means turning to God with a clear conscience, because Jesus Christ was raised from death.
22. Christ is now in heaven, where he sits at the right side of God. All angels, authorities, and powers are under his control.

2 Peter 2:5. And during Noah’s time, God did not have pity on the ungodly people of the world. He destroyed them with a flood, though he did save eight people, including Noah, who preached the truth.
