Assam

Assam in North East region of India is situated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River. This state is really beautiful as it is ringed by rolling hills. One thing which makes Assam very beautiful is the green carpet of tea plantations. Assam is well known in all over the world for its tea, petroleum resources, silk and rich biodiversity. Assam is the only state of Northeast India which is rich in wild beasts, legacies, temples, culture, history and myths. The capital of Assam is Guwahati which is really a beautiful place to visit. Assam is surrounded by the Seven Sister States Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. Assam also shares its international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh. Kaziranga and Manas wildlife sanctuaries are those parks which have successfully conserved the one-horned Indian rhinoceros, the tiger and Asian elephant. Both national parks are World Heritage Sites.

Major Tourist Attractions in Assam

Guwahati - Guwahati is the beautiful capital of Assam situated along the roaring waves of Brahmaputra River. This city is the only entry point to the North Eastern India. The museum, botanical gardens and Srimanta Kaladev Center are some of the basal attractions which make this city famous.


Chandubi Lake - Chandubi Lake in Assam is a beautiful lake which is very much popular attraction. This lake offers its visitors fishing and rowing facilities. Lake is only 64 kms away from the capital of Assam. This natural body of water and serene greenery of Chandubi Lake makes it an ideal picnic spot.

Sualkuchi - Sualkuchi has the largest concentration of silk weaving factories in the world. This place is centered at 32 kms north of Guwahati. This place presents a wonderful cluster of villages, giving rise to the finest of silk qualities in the world. One can also buy highest silk standard at minimum price directly from the manufactures.

Hajo - Hajo is 32 kms from Assam, towards the north of Brahmaputra. This is the only place of the region which has a large number of temples, mosques and Buddhist houses. The most important temple of Hajo is Hayagriva-Madhab Temple consisting a monolithic statue of Buddha. Hajo is also a famous destination for Muslims as it has Poa-Mecca, a pilgrimage spot.

Majuli - Majuli is the largest river island of the world situated in the midst mighty roars of Brahmaputra. A cluster of island villages, it is filled with vibrant tradition of arts, crafts, dance and drama, boasting of a glorious past and tradition. This island also houses 15 Vaishnava monasteries.

Sibsagar - Sibsagar in Assam is the place which is fully rich of natural resources and has a of tea and oil mines. This place is also very famous for its religious sites and temples. Shiva Dol is the highest Shiva temple in India located in the heart of Sibsagar. This place is also very famous because of its settlement around Sibsagar Lake.

Halflong

Halflong is the only hill station of Assam which is rich by the natural beauty. Halflong is a pleasant vista of mountains, grassy knoll and undulations. There is a beautiful Halflong Lake in this hill station which becomes more interesting to watch when migratory birds gather here.

Tezpur

Tezpur is listed to be one of the most beautiful cities in Assam. This city is very important to visit as a tourist point of view as this city offers to explore and witness cultural ruins, valley of greens, and plethora of tea gardens, archeological remains and snowcapped string of mountains.

Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park in Assam is a beautiful wildlife park which has the large population of one horned rhinos and Asian elephants. This national park is a world Heritage Site. This wildlife park has several successful stories of preserving a variety of wildlife. The park offers a variety of attractions as Tiger, Jeep and Elephant Safari.
