Article I – General

Section 1    The name of this organization shall be Trident International Indianapolis, Incorporated.

Section 2    The organization shall maintain incorporation under the Laws of the State of Indiana as a NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION.

Section 3    The official colors of the organization are black and red. The official emblem of organization is a black circle surmounted by a stylized red Trident made from leather.  This emblem is most commonly worn by Full Members on the back of a black leather vest or jacket.  Other official uniforms may be designated and employed according to the Standing Executive Orders.

Section 4    This constitution becomes valid upon approval of the general membership of the organization.

Article II – Purposes

Section 1    To promote brotherhood and sisterhood among members, and to foster camaraderie among other similar organizations whose stated philosophies coincide with those of this organization.

Section 2    To coordinate, by the formulation of a calendar, runs and primary social events.

Section 3    To uphold and maintain the standard system of points for competition and participation issued by the Mid-America Conference of Clubs.

Section 4    To promote inter-club and inter-organization activities.

Section 5    To promote member participation in activities of other clubs.

Section 6    To promote sponsorship and member participation in the efforts of established charitable organizations.

Section 7    To promote open discussion on topics of mutual interest and of benefit to the organization and its members.

Section 8    To promote an understanding of Gay and Lesbian Leather life and safer sex practices.

Section 9    To levy dues in such a manner and in such amounts as may be provided in the executive orders of this organization.

Section 10    To have and exercise all powers, privileges, and rights conferred on corporations by the Laws of the State of Indiana. To have and exercise all powers and rights incidental in carrying out the purpose for which this corporation is formed, except such as are inconsistent with the express provisions of the act under which this corporation is incorporated

Section 11    The foregoing shall be construed as both objects and powers, and the enumeration thereof, shall not be held to limit or restrict in any manner the general legal powers conferred on this corporation by the Laws of the State of Indiana, all of which are hereby expressly claimed.

Article III – Origin of Trident International

Section 1    Founded at Montreal, Canada in 1973, Trident MC was the result of an idea by two non-club independents.

Section 2    Its purpose was to promote brotherhood and sisterhood and to give individuals identity and recognition in order to permit involvement in all aspects of the Levi/Leather community.

Section 3    The organization was named in recognition of a Montreal waterfront tavern, the Neptune.  The name was derived from the three-pronged fork carried by the mythological god of the sea.

Section 4    The Trident logo is a stylized fork employing features of Quebec’s provincial emblem, the Fleur-de-Lis.

Section 5    The Trident colors are black and red, and local chapters are referred to as Halls.

Section 6    Although each Hall operates totally independent of the others, Tridents are bound by the ideals of brotherhood and sisterhood and by the Trident Creed.

Article IV – Foundation of the Indianapolis Hall

Section 1    In September of 2002 John Schmitt, Doug Parks and Larry Bell saw the need for a different leather club in Indianapolis, working with the Windy City hall they completed and obtained the charter for Trident International Indianapolis.

Section 2    After much planning, Trident International Indianapolis was born in March of 2003.

Section 3    The founding members of the Indianapolis Hall are John Schmitt, Larry Bell, and Doug Parks.

Article V – Trident Creed

Section 1    Trident I am, therefore, I am a brother or sister to men and women of every color creed, religion, and affiliation.

Section 2    Readily, I support and encourage all men and women of like endeavor, singularly and collectively, to achieve our goal of universal brotherhood and sisterhood, repelling and opposing those who would hinder or stifle this cause.

Section 3    I am at liberty to promote and propagate alteration and changes to better and/or improve the structure of the club.

Section 4    Decisions of the club are obtained by a consensus of our members within the confines of parliamentary procedure, I agree to abide and uphold.

Section 5    Equal am I, in all matters of club organization and structure. I welcome and accept as a peer all fellow members of our club who have been duly approved and accepted by our membership.

Section 6    Never shall I be deprived of membership unless I have proven a lack of integrity, honesty, or compliance to this, our:

Section 7    Trident Creed.

Article VI – Membership

Section 1    Membership shall be open to men and women who are at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

Section 2    There shall be distinct and differing types of membership as stipulated in the by-laws and standing rules of order.

Section 3    Members agree to support the purposes for which we come together, to be bound by the standing rules of order and by-laws, and to uphold the Trident Creed.

Article VII – Officers

Section 1    There shall be a minimum of four (4) elected officers of this organization who shall be known as the executive board.

Section 2    The titles, duties, and manner of elections shall be stipulated in the by-laws.

Article VIII – Amendments

Section 1    Any proposed amendments to this constitution shall be submitted to the membership at a regularly scheduled meeting and voted on at the following meeting.  If approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the voting membership, the amendment shall become effective immediately.
