Both my father's family (Treviño) and my maternal
grandmother's family (Medina) were from Guerrero. I once asked
my maternal grandmother Rafaela, who was born in 1885, if she
knew any of the Treviños in Guerrero. She not only remembered
my Treviño grandparents, but also my great-grandparents.
Grandma lived to be 100 years old. I regret that my interest
in genealogy came much later and I never had the opportunity
to ask her to tell me more about life in Guerrero at that time.
The following generation chronicles the Medina family from
