Tagaytay
Country's second Summer Capital

Tagaytay City is located in the Province of Cavite, island of Luzon, approximately 56 kilometers south of Manila. It lies within 120° 56' latitude and 14° 6' longtitude. It overlooks Manila Bay on the north, Taal lake and Taal volcano on the south, Laguna Bay on the east and the China Sea on the west.

Tagaytay, considered as the country's second summer capital because of its crisp and cool climate all year around, is a treasure box of pleasure points in by itself. At nightfall, one sees the lake sparkle with the pinpoint lights of fishing boats. It is a perfect picnic spot. Here, the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine Tourism Authority built Picnic Groove, a public park in the city which generates public patronage through user fees and the sale of low priced goods, thus contributing to the industrial growth of Tagaytay.

Tagaytay City, located 2,500 feet above sea level enjoys a cool and invigorating climate characterized by a relatively low temperature, low humidity, and abundant rainfall. Average temperature is 22.7 degrees Celsius. For this reason, Tagaytay with its cool weather, balmy winds and foggy mists is called the "second summer capital" of the country after Baguio City.

Tagaytay city is everyone's fantasy just an hour's drive away from the metro. Images are brought to life in Tagaytay: the riot of color in the sky with every sunrise and sunset. The green foliage of the mountains contrasted by the yellows, violets, and fuschias of wildflowers. The wide stretch of sky unhampered with smog. Taal Lake's shimmering, blue-green surface disturbed by quiant bancas (outrigger boats). Taal volcano's playful game of hide and seek in the mists. But the feel of the breeze's cold fingertips grazing one's nose and cheeks arousing goosebumps on one's arms was something one's fantasy missed.

GETTING THERE. The Tagaytay-Taal area is a ninety minute drive south of Manila; you should be able to arrange transportation through any Manila hotel or tour agency, or you can catch an inexpensive public bus or the BLTB line. Private coaches and vans are available from most Manila tour services. Public buses from Baclaran, Lawton or Pasay terminals are also available.
