We strongly believe in the Internet, not as a religion, but as a powerful means to conduct business. Since Translat Corporation was incorporated in 1996, our business has been conducted exclusively via the Internet.
However, we also think that the Internet is a means to do business, not the goal of business. 'Being on the Internet' is useless if it only costs money or if it scares potential customers away.
If you have ever visited web sites that take forever to load, that contain broken links, ... you know how irritating this can be. In accordance with our mission statement, we specialize in developing attractive web sites that can be read by even-not-so-fancy browsers running on not-so-up-to-date computers and without bankrupting the visitors to these pages.
Even now, after the dotcom crunch, many web sites may look very nice, with lots of attractive animations and fantastic colours and sounds. These sites are usually also a pain to visit and to navigate. Furthermore, most of these sites do not take into account that most people simply do not have the time to solve mazes and wait longer-than-forever for a web site to load. They are utterly oblivious to the simple truth that the vast majority of potential customers are using less than state of the art computers with gigantic screens and are also using standard phone lines and not broadband connections.
Although we can construct the most advanced web sites with active content (scripting, Java, ActiveX, ...) we try do so only when absolutely necessary. The reason is that this active content usually slows down a web site tremendously. Also, in order to be able to use these sites one needs to use web browser settings that leave the computer of the user vulnerable for attacks by malicious software (viruses, worms, ...).
