Earth Philosophy

We generally, as a group, think that Human Beings are here as caretakers of the Earth. We see that our society has varied from being caretakers of the Earth and it is our intent, to become Children of the Earth which means we are trying to return to our original pattern as Human Beings. That means that we try to live within the parameters the Earth has set up. This does not mean we try to change society

We see Mother Earth as a living entity, a Being that is alive, dynamic and Loving toward us by her very existance. We are here to help her and in the process, to help her with her natural processes and, at the same time, to be taken care of by her as a result of our choice to at one with her.

It is our long-term goal, to learn how to live WITH the Earth, rather than to dominate her, change her ways, control her or otherwise be seperate from her. This means we try to learn what her Natural Laws are and we choose to live within those laws rather than changing our environment to avoid what she has to offer us.

The philosophy of being at one with the Earth, means we learn how to surrender to her, to her needs, to her ways. All the skills we work on, one way or another, have that surrender within them. The debris shelters we make, the fire by friction methods, the stalking steps, working with clay, weaving baskets or any other skill we work on, is not a reflection of who we are; it is a reflection, or becomes a reflection, of our relationship with the Earth.

Our individual Spiritual or Religious beliefs, are just that; Individual. We do not attempt to make anyone believe any particular religion or to follow any particular spiritual path. Each person is free to choose their own belief system, religion or philosophy.

Our members "professional" backgrounds cover the spectrum. This group is not about what profession we are in, or what we do to make a living or about being environmental zelots. This group, is about changing ourselves, our perspectives, our philosophy, to fit (rather than fight) that of the Earths.

A benefit of what we do, the skills we work on, the meetings we have and the outings we go on, is that we build community relationships as well. We build friendships, we teach each other, we learn from each other, we share food and happiness and pains with each other.

Becoming a Child of the Earth is sometimes a slow process, sometimes it is not as slow. But, it is a process and we enjoy that as much as we can. It is our hope that where we go, who we meet and what we do in our day-to-day living as well as in our skill development and making those skills part of our lives, makes the Earth a better place to live, a safer place to be and a healthier planet.

Love your Mother. Respect your Mother. Take care of Her. She has given you Life. The Earth Does Not Belong To Us We Belong to the Earth
