Episode at seaside

July 1982,
Den Haan at seaside,
a cheerful picture,
father, son and sea

The father,
tall and strong
encloses the hand of his son
in a solid, encouraging grip

The son frolics playful
over the helmet of Berg
weared by the son
sign of handicap.

The lens zooms in large perspective
the horizon enlarges
others come in the picture
four young riders on stately horses
two fresh boys of sixteen
two cute girls of sixteen

Suddenly the blonde boy says loudly :
'that walks on the street just like that,
Hitler should have known what to do with him !'

The sun's frightened,
the son becomes rigid,
the father ...
what do you do as a father then ?
the father clenches his fists very firmly
turns furiously his eyes to the blonde scum
and ....keeps silent

Summer 1999 .....
it keeps gnawing on his heart ...
