May 12th, 2003 - I hate writing sad news. I'm sure nobody does, but this
goes double for me. Last Saturday (5/3/2003) my cousin Michelle
called to tell me that her mom (also my Godmother) is quickly losing her
battle with brain cancer and is not expected to last the 3 months the doctor
gave her. Michelle then conveyed to me that she felt it would be much sooner
than that. I don't think anyone thought it would have been the very next day
which is precisely when Michelle called me to give me the sad news that my
wonderful Aunt Paulette had passed on.
My mother and I flew to Philadelphia for the viewing on Thursday night and the funeral on Friday. Even though we do not get to see our family and friends in Philly very often, we were greeted with open arms and it was like we had never left. I do not tell those friends often enough how much I love and miss them, I hope they know that I do... Although the trip was for a sad reason, some good did come out of it. I was able to see people I haven't seen in a long time. And through our getting together, we were able to remember my Aunt in a good way. Telling stories about the way she touched our lives, I think it was a good way for us to deal with the loss. Goodbye, Aunt Let, I will miss you! |
