Binary wristwatch, and more

This post will hardly make up for my absence, but it will only take a minute to put up, and it is ultra cool: a wristwatch that displays the time in binary! Once again, courtesy of boing boing.

While I am at it, another fave site of mine is GeekPress ("technology news, shaken not stirred..."), which has pointed me to this bizarre optical illusion, called "motion-induced blindness".

And by virtue of the fact that this link was reported by both boing boing and GeekPress today, here is a hilarious lab report where the results didn't quite meet theoretical expectations.

Apple OS history

This site offers a very thorough history of the various Apple operating systems that have been devised since the inception of the company in 1976. Regardless of your position on the current Macintosh OS, you have to admire the ongoing innovation demonstrated by this company.

A very entertaining read, it brings back a lot of memories for me as I was a hard-core Apple developer from about 1986 for a good ten years. Stuff like co-operative multitasking with MultiFinder to the Mixed Mode Manager (when the PowerPC first appeared) to Copland (been there, got the T-shirt -- really!) to OpenDoc (ai!)... a lot of technology, good and bad, has poured out of that "little company".
