Hey everyboday! It's been a great pleasure playing with Phooj Ywg Band. To call myself "musically talented", I would say no. Why? Well, I can't read music (note playing), and I can't write music. What I can say is that, it's all about determination, and the love of doing what I enjoy. In other words, I practice a lot. To really think of it, playing music is just a hobby for me.

I've actually been playing for at least 5 years(I mean really playing music), and I've been with Phooj Ywg Band, for about 4 years. For the few years that I've been with the band, I've learned a lot musically. I still can remember the first time I got on stage to perform. That was really scary. The loudness of the sound on stage was way different from when I was practicing in my Uncle's garage, and at home. At home, basically all I could hear was my own instrument. But on stage, everybody is playing at the same time, and trying to hear your own instrument was difficult. When that happened, my ears were red hot and not to mention me perspiring most rapidly. It takes time for your ears to adjust to the different environments that you're performing in.

To wrap things up about me, I self-taught myself to play the keyboards(synthesizer). Also, with a little help from my older brother, I learned how to play the electric bass guitar fairly well(well, not that good). The way I learned were all wrong, but at least I learned something. I'm still adjusting to the correct positioning of my fingerings in both instruments, and hopefully I can change my bad habits. The key to everything is, do what you enjoy most. If you want it bad enough, you'll be able to reach your goal.

During those great parties and jam sessions, I love to crank up my Korg Trinity V3, Korg X3, and my Yamaha PSR 500 to get the whole crowd dancing. Below are picture of my keyboards.

Hmong Proverbs

Hmong Version

"Yeeb ncuab, tau kev nqaim
phooj ywg, tau kev dav."

English Translation

"Enemies, have narrow paths
Friends, have wide paths."

Meanings:

The person that you tend to hate the most, you tend to see them everywhere you go.

But friends, no matter how bad you want to meet each other, it seems as you never get a chance.
