Day 1 Day2 Day3

Day 2: Saturday, February 1999
With the cricket on tomorrow, today was an ideal opportunity to see the sites of Melbourne and soak up the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the only thing being soaked up was Damo's vomit, courtesy of a big one last night. While nursing a spinning head, I swore tonight would be a quiet one (much to the mirth of Damo).
Melbourne's a big city, but our aim was to see the main attractions it has to offer. In typical Melbourne weather (rain) we trecked around town. Damo has been here before, so it wasn't the 'blind leading the blind'. It was more like an amnesia patient leading the blind.
The most amazing thing about Melbourne is the free public transport. That Jeff Kennett is not a bad bloke after all. You just jump on a tram, get a guided tour of the city, and get off when you want. I was however stumped by the amount of people buying condoms from the vending machines on board. These Melbournians must be real sex addicts. But what an innovation - free transport. I reckon they should think about implementing this in Sydney.
A city full of sex addicts?
Sampling the night life in Melbourne
In true Warwick Todd fashion, Damo sprayed the crowd with beer before we departed. The rest of the night remains a bit of a blur. I remember getting back to the motel and catching the elevator up to the 5th floor. I don't recall Damo getting off the elevator though.
Somewhere in there were some of my famous vodka cocktails and Damo and I trying to connect to the in-house porn channel unsuccessfully. Must have been a good night.
Some of today's highlights included the Yarra River, Flinders Street Station, a trip to St Kilda and naturally some pubs. Damo likes to sample the local brews when out of Sydney. Personally, I'm not much of a beer drinker. I refer to myself as a man of 'high spirits'. That is , I drink only spirits with a high percentage of alcohol. (I may have over explained that).
With night closing in fast, it was once again time to sample the night life in Melbourne. Firstly we stopped off at the casino for dinner and a few quiet drinks. At the risk of looking like a couple of poondah's, Damo and I dined in this classy little cafe.
We then headed upstairs to hit the nightclubs in search of 'female company'*. You could have been forgiven for thinking you were in a cross dressing bar. There were quite a few weirdo's in there but we found a good vantage point below some dancing chics that were up high on this mesh platform.
