The best known wines of the Azores are Verdelho from Pico. Is the most known and is available in the market,as an aperitif or digestive.
This wine achieves fame as far away as the Court of Imperial Russia.
There is also on Graciosa, Terceira, Biscoitos, Santa Maria, São Lourenço, and São Miguel's
Caloura the Vinho de Cheiro Morangueiro (american grape wine), the most famous.
There are fine table red and white wines, part of them produced for private consumption.
There is also a production of a kind of brandy - Aguardente da Terra, made out of
wine, Vinho Abafado (Fortified wine) in S. Miguel and industrially is
produced Pineaple and Passion Fruit Liquers, among others.
Due to its exceptional natural and mineral's water quality there is also local production of beer, juices and cool drinks and, of course, high quality mineral table and medicinal water.
