The Old House - Beginnings

The Old House were formed when Chris and Craig decided to form a Coral tribute band cheesily named The Coral Reef. However no coral like songs were ever wrote or practiced, but another style did emerge. Chris and Craig began writing songs and shortly after they recruited the bassist, Paul Reid.

The band quickly built up an impressive array of songs, and only needed a drummer to complete the band. An early drummer was drafted in but it didnt work out, thats when Matt Knee was recruited and The Old House were complete.

After practicing for a few weeks and really nailing the songs The Old House decided to start work on their demo. Ryan and Gary Jarman of The Cribs recorded the 3 song demo(platoon, usual suspects, sad song) at their Springtime Studios, Wakefield.

Shortly after the demo was recorded The Cribs were offered a show at the Escobar and at extremely short notice(the night before) offered The Old House a support slot. The Old House accepted the invitation and played the gig, the show was a success, and The Old House were on their way.

Gigging (updated 16/03/04)

Since the above biography a lot has gone on in the world of The Old House. Firstly they have gigs under their belts, 11 to be precise and have played with The Cribs (3 times now, including their already infamous album launch party) , 10,000 things (twice) and also The Blueskins as well as a host of other bands.

Their live shows have so far taken them to Leeds, Featherstone, Wakefield and Middlesborough, with many other cities sure to fall to the charms of The Old House in the future.

New songs are been written and the band are getting more confident on stage with every gig and getting more of a buzz everytime they play. They are getting mentioned on Leeds Music Scene (with people who run it emailing and personally requesting cd's) and in Sandman, and have recently been subject to a charming full page feature in the Wakefield Express.

The New Old House (updated 27/02/05)

The Old House parted company with Matt Knee just before xmas of 2004, in his place stands the mighty Jamie Lockheart. The Old House are currently writing a stack of new material and have an excellent array of gigs lined up. The OLd Houses's latest demo (demo#3, for those counting) has seen The Old House courting quite a lot of attention.

2005 has already seen some excellent gigs, with friends The Research, The Paddingtons, and other 'muckers' The Morphines, with promise of plenty of more shows in the near future. The Old House also feature on the "Dance To The Radio : Leeds" compilation, which is an initiative to promote some of the excellent bands of the Leeds scene.
