General Questions

  1. What is Progress Quest?

Progress Quest is an innovative role-playing game with a remarkably simple user interface. Check out its website for more information.

  2. What is a guild?

In general, a guild in a role-playing game is a group of people who decide they want to work together somehow in playing the game. If the game allows teams, they play on the same team; otherwise they find some other way to cooperate, like adding their kills or points to the guild pool.

  3. How on earth can you form a guild for Progress Quest?

It's simple--just get a group of people together who like Progress Quest, and go on adventures together. And make yourselves a cool webpage while you're at it.

Questions about the FAQ

  1. Are any of these actually questions that are frequently asked?

Not really. We just tried to get a good idea of what questions people might ask us if this informational page weren't here.

  2. So if you wanted to, you could just make up dumb questions, and have people who visit your site think that there are really stupid people who ask those things?

    Yeah, more or less.

  3. Can you help me? My computer's cup holder is broken.

Out, out, you demons of stupidity!

Questions about the Guild statistics

  1. What does "best character" mean?

Many of us have several characters running; to make things fair, and easier on the statskeeper, only one character per member will be entered into the tallies. Not surprisingly, each person prefers to be ranked by his or her highest-ranking character.

Questions about the Guild rules

  1. Are you strict about only allowing Pepperdine students or their friends into your guild?

    Yep.

  2. Why do only the guild members who care have to approve new members?

So we don't have to hassle current members to accept new members when we know ahead of time that they have no objections to new recruits.

  3. What percentage of the guild members are concerned with screening new members?

As far as I know, it's been zero since day one.

  2. Can a member change his or her title later?

    Of course.

Questions about Guild standings

  1. How are the stats updated?

Right now I do them by hand.

  2. Isn't that a lot of work?

Not with only ten members. I update the stats about once a day, and it usually takes less than five minutes. If we get very many more members, though, I might want to set up a script to update it for me every 6 to 12 hours or so.
