What's this all about?
The Gaer Community Network is the local outworking of the CommunitiesFirst initiative. In a nutshell it's a body of people who play a part in the community, mainly residents, getting together to see how we can improve our community for everyones benefit.
CommunitiesFirst is a streamlined means to get funding for community lead projects. The national assembly has allowed various communities that are classed as 'deprived' to apply for funding to rejuvenate their areas and provide things like access to sporting/educational/recreational activities.
We work in partnership with many different bodies from government agencies to charities to local social clubs, schools and businesses. However, the impetus for anything to go ahead must come from us, the local community.
This site is a work in progress, look out for more ... or better still drop in at a meeting (most of which are well advertised and held at the Community Centre).
