Marilyn's speciality is phragmipediums,
for which she maintains a very active breeding program.
She was the first person in the world to bloom
the rare and endangered Phragmipedium (Mexipedium) xerophyticum in cultivation,
propagate it from seed, and, with the help of Tom Larkin of Whippoorwill Orchids,
distributed it to commercial and amateur growers.
She wrote a very comprehensive article on this species in the Orchid Digest, Vol. 60, No. 3.
In addition, she has written several other articles
for the Orchid Digest and Orchids (formerly AOS Bulletin).
She has won many AOS awards, and is an accredited AOS judge.
Marilyn has been a featured speaker at the annual Paphiopedilum Forum,
sponsored by the National Capital Orchid Society in conjunction with the Slipper Orchid Alliance.
