...the blind was still up and Emily saw a dear, friendly star winking down at her.
Far away the sea moaned alluringly.
Oh, it was nice to be alone and to be alive.

Warmest greetings one and all. I'm Susyne. Welcome to my homepages.

WHO am I? I am Sue, given: Susan, aka Susyne, Sue-Clare, and Bella - A Firekeeper. Middle name Lucas, a family name, the formal Roman name for Luke, meaning "Bearer/ bringer of Light." Susan is a Hebrew name meaning "Lily," the symbol of truth and fidelity. In Swedish, Susan means "honesty." In the Bible, Susanna was a Galilean woman who followed Jesus, Luke 8:3. Sagittarius. Fire sign. Born December 15. 1956. Fire pitta (ayurveda). Monkey in the Chinese zodiac. Fire element. Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory type ENTJ (Promethean Temperament/ The Field Marshall). I have sung with professional choirs for over 10 years, and with church choirs most of my life. I also studied 6 years of clarinet, a year of flute, played in recorder ensembles, took a few years of private guitar, and 5 or so years of private voice lessons. My favorite choral pieces are Handel's "Messiah," Beethoven's 9th Symphony: "Choral," Brahms' "Ein Deutches Requiem," and Orff's "Carmina Burana." Favorite gig was Chautauqua Institution. Most recently, in July 2005 I spent the perfect day singing Giuseppi Verdi's "Messa de Requiem" at Chautuaqua Institution as part of Finger Lakes Choral Festival with Rochester Oratorio Society and Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Uriel Segel conducting. I am presently a member of the Rochester Oratorio Society and plan to continue to sing during the summers with Finger Lakes Choral Festival.

There are only 5 states I have not visited in the United States: Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota, Alabama, and Rhode Island. I've been to Canada, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and briefly England. The places I most want to visit are Australia, Alaska, and Austria. I cruised to Mexico last year and enjoyed it so much I hope to return.

My occupation of training is medical, Colorado Certified Nursing Assistant 1982, NYS Certified Home Health Aide 2002, NYS EMT 1986-98. I am a former Army 91G Behavioral Science Specialist & 91B Basic Medical Specialist. I am presently certified and employed as a Lifeguard.

"THE FIREKEEPER-- She who is entrusted with guarding the hearth/heart, the sacred center of the home/community. As keeper of the Eternal Flame, protector of the 'inner-most things' (traditions, beliefs, memories), she maintains the spirit, carries the vision, keeps the connection to the source of life, the spirits of the ancestors -- thus ensuring the vitality of community of the culture."

"THE FLAME-- The flame is the eternal flame of creation, the glowing, living force that gives us breath. The flame is our passion, our deepest connection to our soul."

We live in a 2 story home on a quiet street in the suburbs. I occupy the 3rd floor- my boudoir, my belfry, my office- the garret. Upon our sleepy street, as we nestle in our 80 year old woodframe home. During winter months, we enjoy lounging by fireside on Football Sundays with a stew in the crock pot. Abloom in fairer months, past the Oak by the front sidewalk, is my moon-shaped perennial garden with Japanese Maple in the center, tenderly nursed from a $7 diseased and withering bargain-bin reject. The perennial garden, a tad more wild than originally intended, includes a Forsythia, Cottoneaster, Boxwood, Potentilla, Hostas, Forget-Me-Nots, Bleeding Hearts, Violas, Columbine, Rudbecia, Mums, Coreopsis, Hollyhocks, and anything else which whets my fancy. The side yard holds two more perennial gardens. Behind the garage I've created a garden I have named Lily Mÿrr. It's a lesson in patience-- a white spirit garden, a rock garden, and water garden. Our family enjoys the peace and relaxation of our peaceful haven.

I love sultry summer evenings, bright blooming flowers, rocks, the song of waves upon the beach, grilled chicken and corn on the cob, flatwater kayaking, running snowy evenings lit by Christmas lights , thunderstorms, long, seemingly endless walks, snorkeling tropical coral reefs, autumn, dark rainy days, deep forests, mournful music, nighttime, Christmas music year round, snow shoeing, skiing above the timberline, Huskies, winter snow storms, the lights of Christmas, reading a good book by fireside, peppermint tea, and peace found in prayer.

I'm so glad you have come to visit me in my homepages. Please make yourself at home, stay as long as you like, and drop me an email if you have time to chat.

Blessings!
Sue
