The Traynor Family

The Traynors are from Rathkenny, County Meath Ireland. Thomas Traynor married Mary Reilly.

They had the following children:

1. Lawrence Traynor - b. August 23, 1856 godparents: James Gearty and Bridget Carpenter
2. Anne Traynor - b. Sept 13, 1857godparents: Michael Reily and C. Gallagher.
3. Patrick Traynor -  baptized April 15, 1859 Godparents: Thomas Castisand and Batty Powderley. See more information below.

William and Patrick arrived in America in June 1882. They settled in Rutland, Vermont and married the Kelly sisters. (See more below). Joseph Traynor also settled in Rutland. Margaret and Lawrence settled in New Hampshire. Philip possible remained in Ireland.

I also have listed the cemetary record of a Catherine Traynor Mullaharn 1834-1900. She and her husband Martin Mullaharn were god parents to William and Bridget's daughter Mary Cathrine Traynor. Yet according to family records the birth date was read off the grave stone as 1884. So which is it? 1834 would make her a sister to Thomas Traynor and 1884 would make her a daughter to Thomas Traynor. Someone read the head stone incorrectly. Apparently the name of Catherine Traynor Mullaharn and dates are listed on the back of the head stone in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rutland Vermont. If anyone knows the correct birth date please email me.

William Traynor and Bridget Kelly

Bridget Kelly and William Traynor

William Traynor married Bridget Kelly at Rutland on April 21, 1884. Bridget was a midwife and died of lockjaw. William lost his eye and had it replaced with a glass eye. After Bridget's death, William remarried to Matilda Guard, a relative of Frank Stone. William's occupations: Saw Maker, laborer, Mill hand.  According to the 1889 Rutland city directory, William and Brigdet lived at 28 Ripley's tenement, Center Rutland. Bridget died 1915 and William died 1942, both are buried at St. Peter's cemetry on Rutland.

Patrick Traynor

Patrick Traynor married Alice Kelly on August 26, 1891 at the Church of St. Paul on 117st, New York. Patrick was brother to William and Alice was sister to Bridget. According to the 1889 Rutland city directory Patrick and Alice lived at 28 V. M. Co.'s tenement, Center Rutland. Patrick's occupations: laborer, mill hand.

In 1910 Alice took a trip to Ireland. This information was located at the Ellis Island web site.

She married Robert Miles Rounds on June 8, 1923. See marriage certificate below. They are buired in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Section E. Row 11, Rounds, Robert M., Dec 27, 1902 - Feb 8, 1964 and wife Mildred Traynor Feb 25, 1903 - Feb 9, 1994. Children: Catherine Veronica ROUND, Robert Patrick ROUND, and Charles Hugh ROUND
6. Anna Veronica Traynor - b. Feb 25, 1903 married George Drew 1903-1976. They are buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery, section 2 row 8. Also listed there is son Thomas P. 1927-1977 and daughter Ethel Mae 1924- no death date listed.
