John Sheridan and Julia Morris
John Sheridan
Jr. was born 1828 in Co. Tipperary, Ireland. He married Julia Morris in
Whitehall, NY, October 13, 1852. Julia, born in Montreal Canada, died in April 1875.
John then married Anna Currior
on November 22, 1875. John died November 20, 1898 in Castleton, Vermont, at 70 years of

the Civil War. After John died, Anna moved from Castleton to Rutland and lived at 88
Allen Street.

"John Sheridan, whose death occurred on Sunday evening, was born in Ireland coming to
this country when a young man of 20 years. He has spent his life since then as a resident
of Rutland and Castleton. Mr. Sheridan served in the late war in the 7th Vermont Regiment,
was in the service 3 years, receiving a wound from the effects of which he never entirely
recovered and which at last caused his death. He was a member of the GAR post of Fair
Haven. Mr. Sheridan both as a man and citizen commanded the respect of all who knew him.
He is survived by a widow [second wife Anna], three sons and two daughters. Patrick
Sheridan of Kansas City, Robert Sheridan of Montpelier, John Sheridan of Castleton, Mrs.
Patrick Clifford and Mrs. Martin Krolin of Rutland. Funeral services were held at St.
John's Catholic church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Mr Lane officiated. The bearers
were William Clifford, Patrick Crane, Jerry Mulvy, Robert Hanley, and James Tully. The
services were largely attended. The burial was in the Catholic cemetery in Rutland."
