LESS THAN USEFUL

The Story as We Know it

group

Less Than Useful is a four piece band from Kingsville, Ontario who were weaned on the likes of The Beatles, The Cure and Metallica? The inspiring success of Canadian Pop bands Sloan and treble charger prompted Aaron Bell (drums) Brett Rock (vox+guitar) Chad Everaert (guitar+vox) and Don Garant (bass) to form Less Than Useful in July of 1995. The bands eclectic mix of influences adds to their unique power-pop sound.

All that the band has needed for the past two years is their Cottam, Ontario barn/jamspace/bombshelter to keep them going. In their short time together L.T.U. has supported the likes of: The Super Friendz (Murderecords), Al Tuck and No Action (Murderecords), The New Grand (Sonic Unyon), MAdE (MCA/Universal), Pluto(Virgin), treble charger (BMG), Rusty (Handsome boy) 54-40 (Columbia), Thrush Hermit (Murderecords), Odds(WEA)

"Nothing to Do", the bands first release, a tape only venture, was a self produced project with the help of Kingsville based "Stonehedge Productions". The success of "Nothing to Do" spawned the lad's to record their debut CD "First Time Round". The disc was recorded in a five-day July session at Toronto’s indie mecca "Signal to Noise", under the watchful eye of Rob Sanzo (treble charger, Radioblaster, Voivod). "First Time Round" has sold over 1500 copies, without a distribution deal, since its 1997 release. The disc’s single "Shut Up" was well received by college radio charting high in Windsor, Waterloo, Ottawa and Winnipeg. LTU is pleased with the recording of "The Pay's the Thing" which features the soon to be hit single 'Interact'. The E.P should be avaiable in late 2000. You can get an MP3 version of 'Interact' in the 'MUZAK' section or on MP3.com

Touring is now the main concern for Less Than Useful. Save for a few select shows L.T.U.’s range has been limited to Southwestern Ontario. The band feels it’s time to take their show on the road.
