Gelatin is used in many desserts and candies. Gelatin is made from the boiled bones of animals. An alternative substance is Agar-Agar, which is derived from seaweed. Another type of Agar-Agar is made from the root of the kuzu. Agar-Agar is sold in noodle-like strands, powder or long blocks, usually white-ish in colour. Other replacements for gelatin are guar gum and carageenan.
