Had breakfast and headed off again towards Switzerland.  The Swiss Alps were really magnificent.  The sky was really clear. We stopped at a few places to take in the view.  Mount Blanc was really something to behold.  It had snow on its peaks, as did a few of the other mountains.  We crossed back into Italy for a brief while in order to cross the border into Germany.  We had planned to go through the Mont Blanc tunnel but it was closed.  So we ventured onto the next tunnel, which was about five kilometres long.  At the other end of the tunnel we crossed into Germany.  The tunnels in Europe are plentiful especially in Italy and France where we had been.  The splendid bridges to link the roads across the deep valleys are also spectacular.

Once in Germany we were at the Black Forest, which is beautiful country.  We booked into a Youth Hostel at Xxxxx and then continued on to Titesee, which is situated on the shores of a lake. Lots of tourists and plenty of Asians too.  That evening we had dinner at a nice pub over the road from the Youth Hostel.  The Youth Hostel was the best one we had stayed in so far.  The people who ran it were nice and the rooms were spotless.

Departed for Freiberg.  It was raining when we left but cleared once we were down and out of the mountains.  We have been really blessed with the weather as we have only had three days that it has rained and then it has not been for the whole day.  The temperatures have been 20-25 degrees most of the time.

On arriving at Freiberg we parked the car and wandered around the city for a few hours.  We then left for Colmar in France some 30 or 40 kilometres away.  Just hopping from one country to another.  We looked around for a while and then headed north to the wine growing area where we booked into a nice place for two nights near Beblenheim.

We then went to Ribeaville, which was a really old village, to look around.  There were wall-to-wall tourists here.  From here we went to Riquewihr.  Franz knows the area well as he used to come to the area when he lived in Germany.  We bought some nice wine here and return to our accommodation and drank the wine before going to bed.
