Q: Is homeschooling legal in all states?
A: Yes. Each state has its own
statutes, court decisions, or regulations pertaining home
schooling. (Please contact HSLDA
for information regarding your particular state.) Some states
are more restrictive than others. Be sure to know the
laws for your state and know your rights!
Q: How many homeschoolers are there in
the U.S.?
A:
Home schooling has grown at about 15% per year since 1990.
. In March of 1997 a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found
that 6% of parents “Home-schooled, keeping [their] child out
of school and teaching the child at home.”
