1488--1513Age fifteen at time of accession. Married Margaret Tudor, daughter of Henry VII of England. Slain at Battle of Flodden Field.

James V

1513--1542 Baby at time of accession. Killed in counter-invasion of England.

Mary, Queen of Scots

1542--1567 One week old at time of accession. Was briefly Queen of France through marriage. Caused scandal by marrying Bothwell, chief suspect in murder of her second husband Lord Darnley. Forced to abdicate in 1567. Beheaded by Elizabeth I of England in 1587.

James VI

1567--1603 Age one at time of accession. Son of Mary and Darnley. Authorized translation of King James Bible.
On the death of Elizabeth I he became James I of England and ruled both countries from 1603--1625.
