Dixie nursing the pups
Here's Dixie nursing her puppies

The new litter of puppies has ARRIVED.  This group of 7(4 boys, 3 girl) made their debut Tues., Feb. 25th.   This litter is black with white chests just like the last.   A few have white on the tips of their front feet!   I ONLY HAVE ONE BABY LEFT! She is a little girl and sweet& adorable! Email me if you are interested as she will go FAST!

Dixie and Buck mated in December...  and on Feb. 25th, 2003, Dixie delivered her second litter of Cocker Spaniel puppies!  She had a total of seven puppies...  four boys and three girls.  We gave them all Mardi Gras names this time!  They are Cleopatra, Alladin, Eve, Selene, Rex, Zulu, and Barkus.

Since Dixie is a parti black & white Cocker and Buck is a solid black Cocker, the black gene (which is the dominant color gene in Cockers) asserted itself by giving us an entire litter of solid black puppies.  If they grow up to be as beautiful as their parents, these sure will be gorgeous dogs.

My goal as a breeder is to continue to conform to the standard set by the AKC for Cocker Spaniels and to hopefully improve with each litter.  I will only breed my female dogs once a year.  This helps insure they are healthy and fully recovered from their previous pregnancy.  When the puppies are ready to go to their new homes, they will have their first set of shots and been vet checked for sound health.

The puppies need to stay with their Mother until they are about 8 weeks old.  Sending the puppies home any earlier is not conducive to their social and mental development.  Socialization from birth is very important and everyone in our family will be holding the puppies from birth, giving them love and kisses.  They will continue to get lots of people interaction with not only our family but neighborhood kids, school friends, etc., making sure they are used to being around lots of people.
