Hey, welcome to Pewter City. I'm Brock, I used to run the Pewter City Gym. You're probably wondering why I'm here, if you heard that I left. Well, I left Pewter City a while ago, after my father returned, to travel with a Trainer named Ash. I stayed with them for a while, until I met a Pokemon researcher who I could learn a lot from. She needed some extra help since she was so busy with the Pokemon, and I volunteered. I came back to visit my family and check up on them. Caring for all my little brothers and sisters may have been a lot of work, but I miss it. If I ever see Ash and Misty, I might start traveling with them again.

I'm Officer Jenny, welcome to Pewter City. Oh, yes, I remember when Brock's father returned. Isn't Brock here for a visit? Come to think of it, his father returned around the same time I saw that strange little man trying to sell souvenir rocks. Hmm, I wonder if they're related in any way... Oh, are you looking for information about the Pewter City Gym? Are you looking for a badge? I'm afraid the Gym is closed, unless it's being run by the rest of the family now. Well, I'm afraid I'm really not very sure, but you can always stop by Viridian City if you need some badges. It's not too far from here, and I'm sure my cousin, Jenny could help you. Welcome to the Pewter City Pokemon Center. I'm Nurse Joy. Have you been to the Pewter City Gym recently? I heard the old Gym Leader, Brock, has come back for a visit with his family. I remember that he had to care for ten litttle brothers and sisters all on his own when his father left. His father did leave him with a lot of responsibility, but I'm glad he did return, even if it did take a few years. Having someone else to care for all those children gave Brock the chance to travel and learn more. Well, enjoy your stay, and please be sure to visit again.

Battle against Brock: Pikachu's electric attacks will have no effect on rock Pokémon and no grass or water types are encountered before facing Brock. A few suggestions are to use Mankey's Low Kick (LV9) and Butterfree's Confusion (LV10).
