Ellard L. Forrester serves as Director of Bands and Percussion Studies. He conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and directs the Marching Vikings. He also teaches Percussion Methods, Music Theory, Instrumental Conducting, and Applied Percussion. Prior to his Academic appointment at Elizabeth City State University, he held similar positions at North Carolina A&T State University and Hampton University.
Professor Forrester has been an adjudicator for the Circle City Classic Marching Band Competition, (IN) Battle of the Bands, (NC) Battle of the Drummers, (VA) All County District Tryouts, (NC) Music in the Parks, (VA) and ACTSO. (NC) He holds professional membership in the College Band Director’s National Association, National Band Association, Intercollegiate Music Association, Percussive Art’s Society, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He has served on the board as treasurer of the North Carolina Percussive Art’s Society, and is also an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Sorority. Professor Forrester is active as a clinician and has presented clinics and workshops in the states of Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, and Virginia. He has performed with the “Word From Glory” TCT Network, WLRW Public Radio, (Univ. of Illinois) Huntsville Symphony, (AL) York Town River Symphony Orchestra (VA) He is an endorser of Pro-Mark Sticks, Mike Balter Mallets and Paiste Cymbals.

Maurice E. LeFlore is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. His primary saxophone instructors were Dr. John H. Daniels at FAMU, and Professor Patrick J. Meighan at FSU. He joined Elizabeth City State University in July of 2003 as Assistant Director of Bands, arranger, and saxophone instructor.
Prior to his appointment to ECSU, Mr. LeFlore served as Director of Bands and music instructor at Virginia Union University. He has also taught in the public schools of Palm Beach County (FL) and Charleston County (SC).
