Ismail is Delhi's Wire Arts King, the wizard with the pliers!  Each of these motorcycles is crafted by him, from the aluminum wire he gets specially annodised  in his choice of colours, to the ingenious sequence of twists he performs with his pliers, to create the shape.  Just find the end!

Ismail lives in Old Delhi, and plies his trade from a patch of pavement near Raj Ghat, the busy pilgrimage site of Gandhi's memorial and garden.  He has the cheery disposition of a man doing what he does best, he's been making wire toys and puzzles for 30 years now. His six children will have nothing to do with his line of work. He is the master.  I have seen imitations, but Ismail's are the best in town.

He loves meeting people.  And he has the sweetest courtly manners, I can never leave his "shop", without a tea or ice cream being insisted upon!
