It is positive to see that some developers are beginning to flaunt their creativity despite the financial risks of developing video games that may not have a great chance of succeeding in the marketplace. While there is no doubt that many games of existing genres and formulas are extremely fun to play and will always hold a rightful place in video gaming culture, it is also important for games to evolve and progress in the future, through not only better graphics and sound, but new gameplay concepts as well. Games such as Rez, Deus Ex and others that, due to space restrictions could not be mentioned in this essay, show definite signs of a revival in original, creative and innovative game concepts. Hopefully this trend will continue to grow in the future, and eventually become prominent enough to encourage developers and publishers to increasingly experiment with creativity and innovation in the future.
