Area
4 Board
Area boards were created by state law to make
sure people who have developmental disabilities and their families get
the services they need. Area boards work to make sure that services are
of good quality. Area boards also advocate for people to become more included
into their communities. There are 13 area boards in California. Since
area boards are funded by the federal government, area boards serve people
who have developmental disabilities as defined by federal law.
