The Cotton Squares are a Menlo Park, CA-based rock and roll quartet. The band features singer/guitarist/songwriter/visionary Baron Arnold, rhythm guitarist/gearhead/cool-cat Doug Wright, bassist/occasional-guitar-soloist/voice-of-reason Jeff Bush, and drummer/songwriter/manager/producer/cheerleader Ficus Kirkpatrick.

The band has a set of all-original tunes of surprisingly high quality, as part-time acts go. The melodies are very singable without being overly repetitive, the lyrics are sensitive and just obscure enough to engage the audience on repeated listenings, and the group as a whole plays very cohesively, with each member occupying a definite space in the mix.

The group's sound is very mainstream pop-rock, with a wide appeal. While they don't claim to have a sound unlike anything you've ever heard before, it's difficult to pin down another act which they closely resemble. Their sound is fresh because they believe it to be so, and this comes across in the energy of their shows.

The Squares play occasional dates around the San Francisco Bay area. They have a demo CD consisting of three (very radio-ready) singles, available upon request, and downloadable in MP3 format from their website, http://www.cottonsquares.com, or from Catastrophe Records' website, or here. They are currently at work in the studio on an LP which they hope to sell at their shows. A few copies of the very rare and coveted pre-Squares "Hush Money" sessions exist, though you'll have to pry apart dead fingers to get a copy.
