Strange Paradise:  Episode 3
Episode 3:  Slideshow

At the end of the passage is another doorway that Quito also opens.  As Raxl drops to her knees in the doorway she says. "I Raxl with faithful Quito are about to enter the Sacred Temple. I plead for the strength to fight all evil." As she walks in Raxl stands in the center of a circle on the floor with symbols drawn in it. "Jacques Eloi Des Mondes where are you?" Crossing her arms Raxl says. "I Raxl daughter of a priestess, am a line of the priestess of the Serpent, call upon the devil to meet me here within these bounds." She calls Quito to her and tells him to kneel.  "We offer this pledge to the demon. Our powers of magic so long asleep will be awaken and invoked to fight the evil that is his only ally. Throw off all deception and hate and let love return to Maljardin and the devil to the depths of defeat." Raxl calls to her Gods. She then sends Quito to take Jean Paul to the mainland. Raxl questions her Gods if the master is Jean Paul or the devil Jacques Eloi Des Mondes.

A young girl and her mother are having an argument in Reverend Dawson's church. Elizabeth Marshal wants her daughter Holly to return to Wesley House, a girl’s school. Elizabeth tries to gain the Reverends help.  As Holly tries to leave the boarding school she tells Reverend Dawson "Chow Reverend, keep the faith." Holly turns to leave as her mother comes in the door.  "Perhaps Holly is right Mrs. Marshal." the reverend tells her.  "Do you a minister mean to stand in this house of God and condone this child's actions."  "Not anymore than I condone yours. Holly is not a child. She's a young woman of almost twenty-one." The reverend goes on and tells her the purpose of Wesley House and this church is to put people in a mental and spiritual frame to help themselves.  Elizabeth threatens to have Holly forcibly brought back to Wesley House. Holly grabs her bag and leaves angrily.  "Holly come back here!" her mother calls to her. "Perhaps now Reverend Dawson you are convinced I did not exaggerate about her."  "Did she exaggerate about you?" the Reverend asks. Then Reverend Dawson asks Mrs. Marshal about the hatred that seems to be between mother and daughter and questions the reason for it. "If Holly wanted to really run why would she come here? (Meaning the church) I think she was hoping someone would stop her."  "Then as a minister you have failed."  "All that my authority permits is advice and reason. I offered both. Her mother could have offered much more."  "Well I tried in every way I could and as usual it left no impression on her."  "You can not legislate love, it has to be earned." says the Reverend.  Turning to the Reverend Mrs. Marshal tells him. "She needs correction."  "She also needs love Mrs. Marshal, parental love, the kind of love most children take for granted. A father she idolized is taken from her and when she turns to her mother wanting comfort and security, what did she get? Wesley House!"  "I couldn't control her. I was distraught too Reverend, he was my husband. His death came so suddenly. The estate was in a shambles. There were endless involvements and legal matters kept popping up."  "Holly called those legal matters money. She feels money is more important to you than she was."  Elizabeth tells the Reverend when Holly is legal age everything will go to her.  The Reverend pleads with Mrs. Marshal to let Holly find her own destiny.

Raxl is calling to her Gods. "Msieu Desmond is tortured and sad. Wickedness from the past is driving him to deny what is good. Forgive my master for the ghost he has raised. I ask only out of love for him, for the power and guidance to save him from the evil that is possessing his soul."

Elizabeth questions the Reverends reason for taking Holly's side. "Defending Holly's every action and condemning each of mine."  "I said what I honestly believe."  "It's easy to preach the truth, it's more difficult to face it. Can you Reverend Dawson?"   "Holly is just a child."  "That was my argument. You knocked it down. After all she's not young enough to be your daughter. It makes her old enough to be your..."  "Don't say it Mrs. Marshal. There is no truth to what you are thinking. My real sin is trying to convince Holly that some day you might prove to be a fit mother."  "Are you talking like a man in love Reverend Dawson? You want to save Holly not for God but for yourself."  As Mrs. Marshal leaves the Reverend looks at her with an unsure look upon his face. Reverend Dawson has made the decision to leave the ministry and his church.

Raxl comes out of her Temple and meets Quito in the crypt. Standing near Erica's coffin she tells Quito how this has become the devil's playground again.
