Fuji Ground
Ground Location
Next to the Fuji River (on the Fuji side) between the Shinkansen bridge and the Route '1' By-pass bridge.

By car
From the Tomei  Fuji Interchange.
After going through the toll gate, go up the exit ramp and turn right at the signal.
Take the  r/h "Fuji  Tagonoura" road and follow this road straight down (5-10minutes) until you reach the end.
Turn right onto Route '1' BY-PASS and follow the road for about 1-2km. DO NOT CROSS THE BRIDGE!!
Take the Fiji Kasenjiki exit just before the bridge and follow the winding road until you reach a T-Intersection.
Turn right and go back under the by-pass. Then turn left and follow the road a short way up the hill to an elevated road overlooking various grounds & fields.
Go along this road away from the by-pass a few hundred meters until you see four black and yellow posts marking the entrance to a dirt track.
Take the dirt track and follow it down and around to the left in a large arc, until you come to the ground where hopefully the FFECC members will already be in attendance.

From Shizuoka.
Come across the route '1' bridge and exit at the rest station on your left.
Exit the rest station at the rear and turn left (effectively making a u-turn) and then follow this road up the hill to an elevated road overlooking various grounds & fields.
Go along this road away from the by-pass a few hundred meters until you see four black and yellow posts marking the entrance to a dirt track.
Take the dirt track and follow it down and around to the left in a large arc, until you come to the ground where hopefully the FFECC members will already be in attendance.

By train
Shinkansen
The ground is five minutes by taxi from Shin Fuji station.  On most occassions FFECC will arrange for players to be picked up. It is important that we know the day before the match what time your train will be arriving at Shin Fuji.

JR Tokaido Line
The ground is five minutes by taxi from JR Fuji station please exit on the south side. On most occassions FFECC will arrange for players to be picked up. It is important that we know the day before the match what time your train will be arriving at JR Fuji.

Taxis
Many taxi drivers will try and take you South of the By-pass bridge as there are many playing fields there.
Make sure that you tell the driver very clearly that the ground is next to the Fuji River (on the Fuji side) between the Shinkansen bridge and the Route '1' By-pass bridge.
From Shin Fuji station, tell the driver to turn right onto the By-pass and then follow the instructions above.
From JR Fuji station, good luck!

GROUND CONDITIONS
Reservations.
The ground is on Crown land with the Fuji Kominkan acting as custodians. Reservations for the ground can only be made in person at the Kominkan and only by residents of Fuji City.
A local s/ball group has first reservation rights to the ground and automatically takes the 3rd Sunday of each month from March through October except for August when they do not schedule any official games.
If the 3rd Sunday is rained out the s/ballers automatically take the Sunday two weeks from the rained out day. This is a new rule from this year and does not appear to adversely affect the number of times we can use the ground.
If you would like to use the ground please contact either Glenn Carter or Hirokazu (Junior) Takahashi but please remember that
a) The ground must be reserved by a resident of Fuji City.
b) FFECC has teams playing in three different competitions (KCL, G/CUP & WOMENS LEAGUE) as well as    training camps so there will be very few (if any) vacant Sundays available for fixtures other than those that FFECC are involved in.

Pitch
The original mat is still in place after eight years but is showing signs of wear and tear. There is still considerable bounce and we do recommend the wearing of helmets, particularly when the quick bowlers are in operation.

Surrounds
The biggest drawback of the Fuji ground is the jungle that abounds around the perimeter. Neither the Prefectural or City governments will accept responsibility for the clearing of the jungle so it is left to the club members to do what they can. Searching for balls can increase the length of a game by as much as 30-40minutes so please don't delay games any further by arriving late.

LOCAL RULES & REQUESTS
Pitch
Any ball, which in the opinion of the umpire has struck the area in the center of the pitch where the the two mats join shall be deemed a Dead ball and be rebowled without penalty to the bowling team.

Any ball landing off the pitch will be deemed a NO-BALL (not a wide) and be rebowled with the bowling team incurring the appropriate penalty.
The reason for this ruling is that because of the narrow width of the pitch many "wide" balls hit the grass and then shoot back suddenly in the direction of the batsmen, sometimes forcing him to play the ball with his bat or gloves.
If this type of ball is called a wide then the batsman could conceivably get out caught while trying to protect himself , a situation that would be totally unjust.

Spikes are NOT to be worn at any time on the pitch.

In an effort to lessen the problem of lost balls at the Shinkansen end of the ground we have cleared a large amount of jungle in the problem area and hope that both teams will occupy that area while waiting there turn to bat. If all teams make a concerted effort to use the designated area it should cut down the lost ball search time considerably.

Unfortunately there is no running water at the ground so FFECC will supply a 20lt container of drinking water for visiting teams. The nearest convenience store is a 7-11 on the By-pass, 3minutes drive from the ground.
There is only one portable toilet at the ground and its condition is questionable to say the least.
There are numerous portable toilets on the South side of the By-pass bridge adjacent the various playing fields. The 7-11 also has a clean toilet.

Absolutely no rubbish of any sort is to be left at the ground. FFECC will supply visiting teams with enough bags to collect all types of rubbish. The Fuji government is very strict about seperating the different types of rubbish so please remember to seperate the rubbish into the following categories.
Burnables - Cans - bottles(glass) - Pet bottles(plastic)

Cancellations:
In case of doubt about games because of the weather, please call the Club. There should be someone there from about 09.30 onwards, sometimes earlier. The decision to play or not will be made by the Club ground-staff, so please do not call the YCAC Captain or other representatives directly, unless you have some other questions.
Please note that the ground dries very quickly, and we can often play despite very heavy rain on the previous day. Decisions are therefore sometimes made quite shortly before the time play is due to start.

Other information:
1. Food and drinks should not be brought to the ground, but players and their guests are welcome to use the Club restaurants. Coupon books (for payment) can be bought at the Front Desk.
2. Drinks (beer or juice) are provided for visiting players after the game.
3. Changing rooms including showers are provided. Please use the Guest Changing Rooms. Players (and their guests) can use the Club Swimming Pool or other facilities, paying the relevant Guest Charges.
4. All ground and pitch preparation and clearing up afterwards is handled by the YCAC ground-staff, so there is no need for any assistance from players.
5. There is a practice net, which is sometimes available for practice before and during games. The instructions of the YCAC ground-staff should always be followed regarding the use of the practice net.

Local Rules:
1. A batsman who hits the ball over the highest net (on the West side of the ground) or over the net protecting the swimming pool area is out and no runs are scored.
2. Occasionally there are temporary structures (such as at Obon) within the boundaries. In such case, a stroke which results in the ball striking these (in the air or not) will score 4 runs (unless otherwise agreed between the Captains before starting play).
3. Otherwise the boundaries are clearly marked.
