Hi. My name is Hadas Mazal Arik.

I'm about to leave on a trip to Amsterdam and Paris with my mom!!! I'm so excited!

I've just finished second grade and I can't wait to start third. My mom already bought me all my books and we covered them with plastic & stuck on homemade stickers. I really enjoyed my first year at Tali. I have new friends, Eden and Noam, and we will have even more girls in our class next year. I started reading books by Erich Kestener and I find that I can't put them down. I already have six of the books in the series. I'm still working on learning to read English well, but I've come a long way since last year. Anyway, let me tell you a little about myself.

Hadas is Hebrew for "myrtle". My parents gave me this name both because they liked the sound of it and because I was supposed to be born right around Sukkot. My mom has always loved the smell of myrtle.

Mazal is Hebrew for "luck". My grandmother (my dad's mom) died a long time before I was born. In her memory, my parents gave me her name as my middle name. I'm lucky to have this name & my parents always remind me how lucky they are to have me. (And, of course, they're right!)

Arik is my last name, although it really is a first name (short for Ariel). For some reason, my uncle thought it would make a cool last name... On Israeli Sesame Street, Ernie's name is Arik. So, if you want to get really weird (like my mom) you can always think of me as Myrtle Luck Ernie.

My hobbies are computers (I want to learn absolutely everything there is to know about them), coloring (anywhere, with colored pencils, crayons, magic markers, pastels, or anything else I can get my hands on), other art projects watching TV (a hobby my mom doesn't really approve of), dancing, singing, and reading. I don't like to keep my room clean. My mom frequently calls it a "sty".

I love to help my mom and dad & I'm a terrific sister to my twin brother and sister who are five years old (and NOT always so easy to get along with). I'm also cousin to Lital, Dganit, Reut, Etai, Bat-El, and Amit. My parents thought that that was a lot of cousins before I was born, but since then Tzvi, Na'ama, No'am, Daniel, Elisheva, Ariel, Avital, Yonatan, Yehuda, Dina and Gal (born June 17, 2001) have come along.

I also like eating. Some of my favorite foods include (I'm not joking) artichoke, broccoli, tuna, and gravy (with bread, of course).

Thanks for dropping by! I hope you enjoy my website!
