Cindy and I travelled to Washington, D.C. and Virginia in September of 1997.  It was Cindy's first time to visit Virginia and my second time (first time was in 1976).  We first visited George Washington's Mount Vernon, Alexandria, and the Arlington Memorial Cemetery while staying in the Washington area.  Our next stop was in Charlottesville where we saw our beloved Auburn Tigers beat Virginia in the first football game played between the two schools and also visited Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.  We then visited Williamsburg and Norfolk and toured several plantation homes along the James River.  Below you will find photos of some of the sites we saw there.
