JEFF BEAN
Jeff Bean was born in Ottawa, Ontario on January 11, 1977 and continues to live there. Jeff competes in the Aerials competition. In the Aerials, skiers reach speeds of 40+ mph and may travel 50+ ft. The stay in the air up to 4 seconds doing a great number of flips and twists in combination to gain points. Their marks are 20% for air, 50% for form, and 30% just for landing.

Ranked fourth in 2001-02 World Cup aerials standings.
- Has one silver, one bronze and five top-10 finishes.
- Won one silver and had three top-10 finishes in 2000-01 season after undergoing knee surgery.
- Missed most of 1999-2000 with broken leg.
- Won Canadian aerials championship in 1999.
- Finished 11th in aerials at 1998 Nagano Olympics.
- First World Cup win in Kirchberg, Austria, 1997.
- Had four career World Cup medals, including one gold, going into current season.
Jeff Bean got hooked on Freestyle through his older brother David who competed on the Canadian development moguls team in 1994-95. He underwent surgery in the summer of 2000 for a recurring knee injury, and learned that he actually had a class four divot in his femur. Three days after surgery, Jeff was mountain biking. Jeff spent the summer training at Lake Placid with head coach, Nick Bass. His goals for the season: "To qualify for the Olympic team." Jeff Bean enjoys mountain biking and trampoline. He is also completely bilingual.
