An amusing 7 Flush end to this sophomoric season of Felicity, and I only use the word sophomore, because that is exactly what Felicity is, for better or for worse. Now that Felicity has been offered her internship with Professor Morton, she needs to decide whether to accept it. Felicity realizes that she wants to be with Ben this summer so she will turn down the internship, but when she visits Morton, Morton tells Felicity that this summer she will be working with a famous painter. Nonetheless, Felicity turns down the internship. However, Felicity soon runs into Dr. Provone (remember her: the psychiatrist / guidance counselor). Provone says that she heard Felicity got the internship and is proud of Felicity, but Felicity explains that she turned it down. Provone says that she knows Felicity and she knows Ben, and Felicity should choose the internship. That night, Felicity is talking with Ben, and she suggests that she should consider the internship. Ben gets defensive and says that maybe they should slow down their relationship. Felicity agrees. Felicity then approaches Morton and asks for the job again, but Morton replies that someone else has been offered the job, and that only if this someone else rejects the job will Felicity get it. That night, Felicity and Ben are at Javier and Samuel's rehearsal dinner. Felicity rises to give a toast and she reflects on the fact that when two people love each other they are honest with each other. Ben interrupts this comment and says that when two people love each other they will sacrifice for each other. The two fight so much that they go into a separate room. In this separate room their fight turns into sex; this is the first time they have sex and there are 40 people in the next room listening although Felicity does not know that the people can hear. Anyway, Ben and Felicity are happy together and realize that they simply miscommunicated their feelings for each other, and they really do want to be close with each other. However, the day of the wedding Felicity gets a call from Morton informing her that Felicity can have the internship. Felicity then speaks with Ben and tells him that she took the internship. Ben does not care; he thinks that this will be good for Felicity. As the two part for the summer, Ben says, "I love you" and Felicity responds "I love you." By the way, Felicity later sees Provone who tells Felicity that Provone and her husband were separated for four years, and that if you truly love someone, love will win. Provone also reflects that Felicity chose herself over a guy, proof that Felicity is growing up.

Also this week, having just had sex with Sean, Meghan is withdrawn from him. Sean, however, tells Meghan that he likes her. Meghan tells Sean that she is going away to Wicca Camp to be a counselor this summer. Nonetheless, the two have another night of sex. Meghan again withdraws from Sean, but Sean keeps his determination. At the rehearsal dinner, Sean gives Meghan a necklace with a skull on it. Meghan says, "No one's ever given me jewelry before." Sean replies, "It's no big deal." Meghan says, "Wait, let me finish. That I don't wear in my nose, tongue, or belly button." Sean, however, does not give up, and Meghan finally realizes that she likes him. She invites Sean to spend the summer with her at her parents' villa in Tuscany. By the way, Meghan's parents won't be there.

Some final notes on the season. Julie gets a phone call from her mother, Carole Anderson. Carole and Julie get together, and Carole tells Julie that her father (who doesn't know Julie exists) is sick and that she wants Julie to get tested to see if she is a doner for a new liver. Julie walks out on Carole. Ben tells Julie that her father knows nothing about Julie and that Julie shouldn't punish a man for a mistake he doesn't know about. Julie almost calls for the test, but in the end doesn't. Second, Javier's cousin Natalie comes to visit for the wedding. Javier tells Ben to be careful about Natalie who will be a grad student at the University of New York next year. Ben follows this advice, but Noel does not. Apparently, the two disappear after Javier's wedding and no one knows where they are...will these two shack up for the summer? Finally, Javier and Samuel get married. Pretty pathetic wedding and their kiss is just a peck on the lips (two man-to-man kisses in one night...see Dawson's Creel). Javier announces that he will enroll in college at the University of New York next year.

END OF SEASON

I didn't get to watch this episode due to taping difficulties, and due to intellectual property laws, I can't simply copy somebody else's summary so I've decided to do my own version of all the summaries I read on the web. Ben and Felicity are officially back together. They even spend the night together (a night which everybody tries to spy on, including Sean who tapes Ben's door for his Docuventary). Ben has to go home for the summer to be a construction worker. Only this particular job can give Ben enough money to pay his tuition next year. Felicity, however, may have a shot an internship in New York if she does well on a final, but this means she will not be with Ben. Before she takes this all-important final, she has sex with Ben. The two lose track of time during their sexual romp due to the fact that Ben's watch requires motion to keep proper time, and Ben took his watch off before sex. Felicity thinks that Ben wanted to miss her final on purpose because then she has to go back to California with him. To make up for this mistake, Ben talks to Felicity's professor. The professor gives Felicity a make-up test, and Felicity does well enough so that she will get the internship offer.

Ruby gets proposed to by Wade. Ruby accepts. Noel doesn't like this, but he apparently doesn't have much say in the matter. He starts kissing Julie (apparently some special cookies that Meghan baked had something to do with this kiss), and Sean walks in on them. Sean is particularly upset at seeing this kiss, because Julie had finally agreed to go out with him. Sean then ends up kissing Meghan, which if you think about it, is the cutest relationship ever. Tracey and Elena almost have sex, but Elena says that she cannot make Tracey compromise his religious standards for her. Finally, Javier is getting married. He asks Ben to be one of his ushers, and Felicity will be his best man.

NEXT WEEK:Felicity must choose between a prestigious New York internship or a California summer with Ben; Javier prepares for his wedding, Julie faces the return of her birth mother, and Sean courts a surly Meghan.

Please realize the enormous amount of stress I'm under right now so forgive this brief critique of this 7 Flush episode. Felicity and Greg have just left Ben on the ground in a restaurant. They are walking for a little when Greg realizes that he cannot be with her. He tells her that there is too much happening between her and Ben. Felicity accepts being dumped but does not accept being with Ben. She goes on a girls' night out alongside Meghan, Julie, and Elena. The girls are having a blast, and they all refuse to discuss men until Ben shows up to see Felicity. She tells him that she doesn't want to be with him; she then gets drunk and leaves a message on his answering machine telling him that she doesn't want to be with him. However, she soon regrets this nasty message. She realizes that because she no longer needs Ben that she should now be with Ben, because now she is ready to be in a relationship. The next day Ben shows up and tells Felicity that he picked a point where they relationship earlier in the season failed and is ready to remedy that part. He bought a reel of a movie, they watch it, and they kiss. Yeah, them!

This episode was big for Meghan. She is talking with Felicity and actually hangs out with Felicity. Meghan shares the story that she has her own Ben, and when she sees Greg, she approaches him. She asks him if he remembers her. In the first grade they got married in a sandbox as a joke, but Meghan has had feelings for him ever since. Greg barely remembers this scene and does not have any feelings for Meghan, poor girl, but at least now we understand why she loved Greg.

Also this week, Sean asks Julie if she has thought about his loving her. She says she has thought about it and will maybe go out with him. Tracey finishes painting Elena's apartment which is good news, and these two love birds are back to their non-sexual relationship (Tracey is a virgin until marriage). Noel and Ruby make out; they don't have sex, but they are back together, at least sort of. As for Javier kissing Ben, that was just so that they could seem cool and get into a club.

NEXT WEEK: Love is in full bloom.

A fun, viewer-oriented 8 Flush episode that provided one of those rare scenes in which every character on the TV show is in the same room at the same time. However, before we reach that point, Greg and Felicity arrive at a beautiful and secluded cabin. They are enjoying themselves and are oblivious to the fact that Ben is following them everywhere they go. Ben is keeping in touch with Sean and Javier informing them of when and how he should express his feelings for Felicity through a cell phone that Ben borrowed from Sean. Ben is expecting a call on the cell phone from the Independent Film Channel regarding the future of Sean's film Docuventary. Anyway, Greg goes off at night to get some firewood, and Ben approaches Felicity. He asks her for one moment of her time, but she says no and that she does not want to be around him. He says he just needs one second, but she says that he is no longer part of her life. (Have you ever noticed thatwhen someone wants to say something important on a TV show they never come right out and say it, they always ask to say it and are denied the right to say it?) Ben leaves Felicity distressed, but when Greg returns to the cabin, Felicity can only think of Ben so Felicity and Greg end their trip early. They return to the dorms and Felicity learns that her dormroom has been flooded. As a result, she has to sleep in the cafeteria. She sleeps besides Ruby (whose room is also flooded) who asks Felicity about her and Ben. Felicity retells the story about following Ben to New York and thinking that she and Ben were meant for each other, but finishes by saying "Of course, now I realize I was running away from things as much as I was running towards something." Ruby informs Felicity that Wade, the father of Ruby's baby, is coming to visit tomorrow.

In the meantime, Tracy arrives at Noel and Elena's apartment (closed-captioned TV informs me that this is the spelling of Elaine) with a friend named Vincent. Tracy and Vincent plan on stripping the wallpaper off of the walls of the apartment and then painting it. (Keep in mind a number of months ago, this painting project began...see February 20) Elena protests at first, because she thinks Tracy will do a bad job, but eventually says that he may. Tracy messes up the job and smells up her apartment with paint so Noel and Elena are forced to move out of the apartment for a few days. They will stay with Ben, Sean, and Julie. At the same time, Julie tells Felicity that she should come and stay with them, because Felicity will eventually make up with Ben and better sooner than later. Felicity says that she will only come if Ruby can stay as well, and so they both go to the apartment. As for Felicity, she has reconciled with Greg and plans on taking him out to dinner tonight.

Before the evening comes, everyone is in the apartment meaning Ben, Sean, Julie, Tracy (who is taking off from painting), Elena, Ruby, Noel, Felicity, and Meghan (who invited herself to stay at the apartment). Sean suggests a day of board games, and everyone enjoys themselves. Ben and Felicity look at each other in ways that express apologies. Sean glances at his secret crush, Julie. Julie glances at Noel who she has had a crush on for about two weeks. Noel and Ruby act as though they never stopped dating. Elena and Tracy are happy as can be. The phone rings. It is the Independent Film Channel. Sean learns that his film, Docuventary has been picked up by the network. He is so happy that he takes Julie in his arms and kisses her. Everyone is shocked by this act and tries to divert attention, but Julie says "Sean just kissed me." We then hear a knock at the door. It is Wade. He has come to talk with Ruby. Meghan reminds everyone that Wade knocked Ruby up. (In the February 20 episode Meghan reminded everyone that Ruby was knocked up.) Next person to enter is Greg who has come for his date with Felicity. All four leave. They are followed by Tracy and Elena. Noel and Ben also leave the scene meaning that only Sean, Meghan, and Julie are left. Meghan leaves momentarily and Julie asks Sean about the kiss. He tells her that there was something behind the kiss: "I am totally, madly, insanely, passionately in love with you. I have been for a long time. And before you ask, no, I'm not kidding." This story will develop more next week.

Greg and Felicity are on their date. Greg informs Felicity that Ben apologized to him, and they are both glad that the Ben issue is over. But it isn't. Meghan tells Ben that Felicity still has the hots for him. Meghan goes into this hilarious explanation of how Felicity associates Sarah McLachlan with Ben, and Felicity has been playing Sarah nonstop recently. Ben shows up at Felicity and Greg's date (how he knew where they would be, I don't know). He tells Felicity that he has strong feelings for her, and she has to know how he feels before she goes off with Greg. Ben explains that before he was afraid to admit his feelings but that now he can explain his emotions. Felicity says that Ben is not sincere and that Ben only likes to chase women. She says that Ben pulled the same theatrics last year when he asked her to go cross country with him and that she doesn't believe him now. Ben refuses to leave so Greg punches him. Ben falls to the ground and Felicity comes to help him, but then leaves him on the ground to leave the restaurant with Greg. By the way, what does Felicity see in Greg?

QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: She hasn't learned yet that being rude and being charming aren't the same things. --Noel on Meghan
NEXT WEEK: Sean catches Julie kissing Noel. Greg dumps Felicity. Javier kisses Ben.
