A university guidance counselor is trapped in a loveless marriage. Her husband is a cruel and vicious political adviser who is hooked on drugs and constantly hurts her. He even schemes to drive her to commit adultery and hires a private detective to track her every move. Things begin to get out of hand when the wife is implicated in the mysterious death in a car accident of a suicidal gay student with whom she is very close. The problematic young man happens to hold the key to the intricate web of dark secrets involving a circle of friends surprisingly acquainted with him.
