 Maalaala Mo Kaya, The Movie

The 90s update on the child-custody drama, this moving story of a mother forced to give up her son only to claim him back after a while is given a makeover when the unspeakable travails and perils of overseas labor are implicitly brought into the picture. The biological mother draws as much sympathy as the adoptive mother. Meanwhile, the man who sired the child figures in the narrative that never runs out of twists and turns but remains compelling and engaging just the same. With a strong social message, the film challenges the traditional concepts of motherhood, family and interpersonal relationships.
