The first Odin Fandub versus Odin Fandub 2.0: What was changed?

In short, everything! Odin Fandub 2.0 is a complete overhaul of everything that made the first version fall flat. If you've seen the original "Odin Comedy Fandub" then you NEED to see Odin Fandub 2.0, because it delivers a completely new, and drastically improved experience.

"I crap bigger than your ship!"
The original version only dubbed a severely cut 90 minutes of the original animation (the same version shown on the Sci-Fi Channel). The new version covers the entire 140 minutes of animation, much of it originally cut from US Manga's commercially-released English dub of Odin. The deleted scenes have now all been fully scripted and dubbed. To our knowledge, Odin Fandub 2.0 is the only English dub that covers the entire original movie as it was released in Japan.

The total length of the original fandub, including outtakes and credits was 117 minutes, but the new one totals all of 150 minutes, requiring a longer blank tape to copy it..

The script from the first fandub was completely thrown away and rewritten. The script from the first fandub was, quite frankly, bad, and not worth doing again. The first fandub was more of an experiment, whereas the second version is the perfected version. To make Odin Fandub 2.0, many months were spent reworking the script to make it the perfect parody experience! More time was spent writing the script than even mixing or recording the voices for the movie! That's how much better the new script is. The new version is at least ten times more hilarious than the original. Odin Fandub 2.0 puts the original Odin Comedy Fandub competely to shame. Now that the new one is out, we wouldn't show the old one to our worst enemy.

The original version used an EP recording from the Sci-Fi Channel on TV. The new one is directly from the Japanese laserdisc. The video quality is greatly improved from the graininess of the original fandub. The tapes were fully copied in SP mode. We made Odin Fandub 2.0 with the best video quality possible.

The sound quality was ridiculously improved. The original version used less than adequate audio equipment in a configuration that was overcomplicated and made no sense. The voice quality was muffled and tinny. The new version used a professional grade microphone and a stereo mixing board. The new voices are entirely re-recorded. The new voices, music, and sound effects were mixed seamlessly for a fully stereo and clean finished product.

The fake commercials that were inserted into the original version have been done away with. The feeling was that though some of the fake commercials were kind of cute, most of them were just annoying and only served to interrupt the flow of the movie. The new version only dubs the animation itself without interruption, and no Sci-Fi logo always stuck in corner of the screen.

Some of the music selections for the soundtrack from the first version were kept in 2.0, while others were changed, based on feedback we got from the first one. This time three of the original songs from the movie performed by the band, Loundess, were worked into the fandub. Jpop and J-Rock music was also added to the new version. The sound effects were also changed to be more realistic.

The new fandub has an all-new outtakes reel with new screwups.

The separate scenes are spliced together much more smoothly in the new version.

The character of Ryuuou is no longer played by Max, and instead it is now played by Alec, the same guy who does the voices of Mamoru, Belgel, etc, and a new character voice for Ryuuou has been introduced, one that viewers often say is their favorite of the movie.

Even if you've already seen the original Odin Comedy Fandub, you have to see Odin Fandub 2.0. It delivers an entirely new and much better experience. We wouldn't have put so much work into making the movie all over again if we didn't think there was a lot to improve. The old version is trash compared to the new one. We no longer offer copies of the original Odin Comedy Fandub to the public, and for good reason. You don't want to see the old one. It was bad. The new one is incredible.

"That's it for me man, sheeeiit."
