Chapter Seven

"That was great, Nick, you didn't have to pay for me." Michelle exclaimed.

"Yeah, that was so sweet." Kris sighed.

"It was my pleasure ladies, but still. . . Alecia, I wish you would've let me pay for you too."

"No, thank you. I'm quite capable of paying for myself. Besides I just get charged to my room anyway."

"Come on CeCe, he's just being nice. Why can't you just accept the offer?" Kris asked.

"Cause unlike you two, I know what he's up to."

"What?" Michelle asked.

"Yeah Alecia, what am I up to?"

"What have I been telling you all day?" Kris and Michelle looked at her blankly. "You mean to tell me he's got you so entranced you don't remember?"

"Remember what, CeCe? What are you talking about?" Kris questioned.

Alecia threw her hands up in frustration, this was too much. He'd already gotten to her friends and it'd only been an hour and a half. She had to stop him now. She wasn't gonna let her friends get taken in anymore than they already were.

"He wants what all guys want; someone to screw and forget in the morning."

"I'm not like that. You don't even know me! How can you judge me?"

"I may not know you Nick, but I know the kind of guy you are. I could see that from the moment you walked over to my table last night. And now I'm sure the girl whom left your room this morning knows it too. Come on girls let's go."

Nick swallowed, this wasn't good. "What girl that left my room?"

"Come on Nick, it's only natural that after I turned you down you'd have to go and make up for it, make sure you hadn't lost your touch. I know exactly what happened. You told her you wanted to get away from all of the noise of the club and go some place quiet. You took her back to your room, had a few drinks and then next thing she knows it's the next morning and you're telling her you can't be in a relationship at this time and that what you two shared was special. Well, you can find some other unsuspecting women to take advantage of, cause I won't let you treat my friends that way. So stay away from us so help me or else. Kris, Michelle let's go." Alecia stood up and walked away.

"Oh god, Nick, I'm sorry. I don't know what's gotten into her lately. She's never like this." Kris explained.

"Yeah, she's really nice to people normally." Michelle continued.

Nick wasn't paying attention. He watched as she walked out of the restaurant, the anger rising. He wasn't sure if he was more upset that she'd said that in front of her friends, or if it was because she'd described exactly what had happened last night. All he knew was that he had to be careful around her. He was determined, now more than ever, to have her. He turned back to Kris and Michelle.

"It's ok ladies, really. Look, I hate to do this, but I have to leave. Maybe we can get together sometime. I'll talk with you soon." After a kiss on the cheek for them both, he left the restaurant. Michelle and Kris ran to find Alecia standing waiting for the elevator.

"Damnit Alecia, what the hell has gotten into you?!" Kris yelled.

Alecia turned to look at them. "I can't believe you fell for that. I thought you were smarter than this."

"Excuse me? Are you calling us stupid or something?" Michelle asked coldly.

"No, I'm saying don't be blind. He uses women, can't you see that? He uses them and then he throws them away. A pretty smile and the right words and he's got them right where he wants them. It's all a game with him. He'll get to you too, if you let him."

"You don't even know him and you're judging him. I've never seen you act this way before. I don't like it." Kris finished.

"Neither do I." Michelle agreed.

"You don't like me standing up for myself?"

"No, I don't like this attitude you have where all of a sudden you're so much better than everyone. You don't even attempt to be his friend and all during dinner you shot him nasty looks and glares. I never knew you could be so damn petty and immature." Michelle replied.

"ME! At least I wasn't batting my eyes and sighing like some lovesick teenagers. It was embarrassing."

"There's nothing wrong with a little flirting. You were acting like something crawled up your ass." Kris countered.

"You know what? I don't need to stand here and listen to the two of you. Go, do what you want. I hope it makes you feel special or whatever it is you hope to accomplish by screwing every guy in creation that winks at you and calls you sweet names. To hell with the both of you!" Alecia screamed and stepped into the elevator.

******************************************

Nick finished undressing and slid under the covers. For the most part, the night had been a huge success. He'd learned her name and made friends with some of the people close to her. He had yet to meet April, but there was still time for that. Next he needed to assist her in some way, to prove that he was sincere. That was going to be rough. Bad situations just don't fall in your lap. He didn't want to cause the situation; that would make him look bad. He needed to get her out of a bad situation. He rolled over and stared at the ceiling. The bed felt awful empty, he wasn't used to sleeping alone. He looked at the clock next to him to find that it was still early yet. He slid out from under the covers got dressed and took off in search of a club and a little company.
