While some numbers look close, like the number 2, Nepali numbers are definitely different. Don't be fooled, that digit at the top that looks like a 9, "Ek", is really one.

I learned the numbers and had a great time counting with little kids along the trail. On their money they have the numbers written in both Nepali and numbers I knew. It was confusing at first, when I would look at the 50 rupee note and see Nepali 50 it would make me puzzled, but I got used to it.
