Mote's Thoughts

John Crichton (Ben Browder) is a human astronaut from earth. Son of famed Iasa astronaut Jack Crichton, John sets out one day to prove an experiment in his space module, Farscape One. (lovingly referred to as 'that white death pod' by Crais.) Just as Crichton was in the middle of his experiment, his ship ran into an electromagnetic wave. some combination of his excessive velocity and his pods interaction with the EM field created a temporary wormhole in which John and his pod were swept up into. He soon found himself on board Moya, a leviathan spaceship, half mechanical, half biological, and completely sentient.

While John seems to come from a 'deficient' species, he does have one talent in excess of the other members on board Moya. His ability to 'think outside of the box' and come up with imaginative ways to get the crew out of trouble (usually the same trouble his ideas have gotten the crew into,) has saved them numerous times. He is not an infallible hero however, and he has made choices in the past that have cost lives rather than save them.

He was hunted originally by Crais for the death of Crais' brother (an accidental collision when John first came through the wormhole.)  Then after Crais, by Scorpius for the wormhole technology planted in Johns subconscious by a race called the Ancients. Scorpius not only hunted for the information, he had implanted John with a neural chip/clone of Scorpy himself to get the information. After Scorpius extracted the chip, the Scorpy clone seemed to remain behind in John, always tormenting him.

At one point John was "Twinned" into 2 different Johns, separating the crew (and the 2 Johns) for almost the entire 3rd season. I am still upset over this goofy plot device and wouldn't mention it were it not for the fact that Aeryn "hooked up" with the John she was with, who conveniently got killed, it looks as though because of that the remaining John isn't going to be getting any for some time.
