BEN BROWDER plays Commander John Crichton. Born in Memphis Tennessee and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina as Robert Benedict (or Benedic?) Browder , he attended Myers- Park High school. -I so kicked that schools debate team's ass in high school! Oh god I am a geek... it's obvious now.- Afterwards he went to Furman University and got a BS in psychology (I just love the term 'BS in psychology'). At some point he had picked up an acting itch and in London he attended the Central School of Speech and Drama. He married Fran Buller, an actress who has also appeared as different characters in each season. Apparently from what I've seen in her performances, she is every bit as talented as her husband. BB's other roles are many, but I hear most frequently about a guest spot on Melrose Place (a show I never watched) so I will mention that here... He had a guest spot on Melrose Place. He also performed in guest appearances on Party of Five and Murder, She Wrote. He also performed in numerous TV movies and in several big screen appearances including "A Kiss Before Dying" and "Memphis Belle" as the rookie captain.
