WELCOME TO SOUTH AUSTRALIA
South Australia stretches from unspoilt 'Kangaroo Island" in the South through undulating valleys of the North.Kangaroo Island is where you will experience our  animal wildlife in their natural habitat at" Flinders Chase National park"  also take a look at  "Seal Bay" which is home to 500 rare Australian sea lions, while your here try out the waters for some great diving and fishing. Kangaroo Island is accessible by ferry , once there you have the option of a tour bus around the island.A one hours drive north  of Adelaide you venture into the heart of Australias wine growing regions. Through the amazing valleys you will come across  "The Barossa Valley" where some of the worlds finest wines are produced. South Australia  is the wine making capital of Australia, producing 50% of Australia's wine and 65% of national wine export. While your here why not take a ride in the "Hot Air Balloons" and view the vineyards and the beautiful country of Adelaide hills, a spectacular site I'm sure you'll not want to miss.Further North of the state are "The Flinders Ranges",vast salt lakes,  the outback town of "Coober Pedy","Port Augusta" and Ceduna.Coober Pedy is an outback opal mining town, the name originated from the Aboriginals "Kupa Piti"...meaning "White Mans Hole".Due to the hot weather of summer and the coldness of winter , many residents choose to live under ground, aswell as hotels and a church .If you remember the films "Priscilla Queen Of The Desert" and "Mad Max 3" this is the town where many of the scenes were shot.
Adelaide is the capital of South Australia which is located between Lofty Ranges and the waters of the Gulf of St Vincent.A city full of many well preserved historical buildings, markets, beautiful gardens, a casino, museums and galleries. The "Art Gallery" of South Australia has the largest collection of 18th century Australian Art on display. If you fancy a day at the beach you can travel by the original 1929 "Glenelg Tram' which leaves quite regulary from "Victoria Square".There is much to do here besides shopping and enjoying many of the eating places , the kids can have a day in the aqua tubes or for the more adventurous there is parasiling.. a great way to view the city of Adelaide. For more information about South Australia , please click on the links below.
