Sonic is back on his third game to reach the Nintendo Gamecube! This is the first Sonic game to go on all three systems: Nintendo Gamecube, Sony Playstation 2, and Microsoft Xbox. Sonic Heroes a unique game with twelve playable characters made up of four teams of characters, so there are three characters in each team. Each team is made of the three types of characters: speed, fly, and power. Speed characters are the ones that get you through the stage at maximum speed. The fly characters can carry the other characters to a higher platform. The power characters can destroy some of the obstacles in your way with their amazing strength. Each team goes through the fourteen stages completing different tasks and taking different paths.

Team Sonic's story starts with a little movie where you see Sonic running through some kind of desert. Tails and Knuckles are in their airplane, the Tornado 2, to deliver a message to Sonic. The message comes from Eggman! It says that he is going to use some kind of weapon to take over the world. Eggman invites Team Sonic to try and stop him. Will they stop Eggman from taking over the world.
Team Dark's story starts showing Rouge the Bat infiltrating some kind of Eggman place while trying to find treasure. Once she enters one of the rooms, she sees Shadow the Hedgehog in some kind of capsule. Rouge opens the capsule and sets Shadow free. Once the capsule opens, a robot hidden in the shadows attacks Shadow with his deadly machine guns. Rouge hears the robot saying in a mechanical voice,"Must destroy Eggman's robots!" Rouge stops the robot named Omega and suggests they become a team. Since they're all mad at Eggman for some reason, they would make a really powerful team. Will Team Dark get their revenge on Eggman?

Team Rose's story is the easiest one in the game. The stages are shorter and the enemies are smaller. Amy Rose, Cream the Bunny and her Chao named Cheese, and Big the Cat are off on an adventure looking for their lost friends. Amy is looking for her love, Sonic (I feel sorry for him). Cream is looking for Cheese's brother Chocola. Big is looking for his best friend and frog, Froggy. Will they find their lost friends?
Team Chaotix's story is a little different. The team is a detective ageny. One day they were chillin' in their office, when the get a walky talky thing in the mail. It tells them to go to places and complete missions (like, collecting hermit crabs!) Will you do... uh, whatever they are trying to do?
