Skulking Loafers vs Selsey Bill
This fixture I believe to be the oldest that the Loafers have. The rivalry over the years has tended to favour Selsey,
but The Loafers are keen to do the double over Selsey as this would be a rare event. The wicket at New Park Road looked it`s usual shade of unpredictability and runs were to be of a premium.Selsey batted first and were immediately put to the sword by
strike bowlers of the Loafers ,Neil Holmes and Mickey Dunn took 4 wickets between them for the cost of 10 runs off of the bat at the end of their spells 5-3 and 5-1respectivly and the heart of the Selsey batting lineup had departed after just 8 overs. The Loafers continued to contain the Selsey batsmen and the pitch played a major role and restricted the total to just 58. In reply The Loafers were seemingly cruising at 45 for 3 and then the evergreen Peter White took a hand in the proceedings 3 wickets fell for the addition of no runs and the game now swung in Selsey`s favour another wicket fell at 46 and the game was in the balance, but twas of no avail for Selsey as Lee Russell once again stood firm and hit the winning boundary a close finish and a very exciting game was won by the Loafers with a bit of help from their local knowledge and the pitch. The Loafers had completed the double and were in bouyant mood, all retired to the Coach and Horses for beer and grub.
