ME/CFS/FM Support Association Queensland Inc..Tropical North Queensland Support Group
Newsletter.
No 12, May 2006.
Greetings.
As we march into 2006, we pause a moment to remember the unwelcome visitor forced upon us in the tropics:- a big wind called LARRY. Fortunately, no one was killed. Phone calls have been attempted to everybody in our area, but we have not been able to reach everybody. While most of the media attention has focused on Innisfail and the coast, the Tablelanders also suffered, especially the southern area. Most of us just quietly got on with the cleanup, helping others less fortunate.
THANKS- Thanks again to Rosa Lee Long for her support and assistance.
- Thanks to all the organisations that have donated the use of their meeting rooms.
- Thanks to the media who gave us free publicity for our group and our meetings.
- We have received a number of pamphlets from the Coeliac Society. These will be available at meetigs.
- We have also received information about Arthritis, and several support groups in the Tropics.
- Ask Neil about his experiences with olive leaf extract, aloa vera, kombucha, and apple cider vinegar.
The Queensland Association needs our support. The CFS organisation can only operate successfully if we join with them as financial members.
AMALGAMATION:The Tropical Support Group has amalgamated with the remnants of the “Chronic Fatigue Information and Support” group formerly operating in the Smithfield area. Several of their members had already started attending our group. We welcome their decision to amalgamate, and the passing of funds to our group. Thanks especially to Rosanne and Patricia.
NEWSLETTER- Contributions to this newsletter are always welcome: recipes, jokes, personal stories etc.
- Especially welcome are stories about your personal struggles and victories over illness.
- If you don’t want to receive this Newsletter, or are not interested in our health issues, please mark the Newsletter “return to sender” and send it back to us.
- We attach information pages about an Arthritis Seminar, healthy food (?) and foods for Fibromyalgia.
- The State Association is no longer able to subsidise our postage, so donations towards the costs of printing and postage are welcome.
- We need to reduce our postage costs. Please let us know if you have email. If you don’t have email, but know somebody else who can receive and print the email for you, please tell us.
A number of Power Point presentations are available for meetings. If there is any particular presentation you would like to see, please phone the presenter, Neil Reynolds, to ensure he brings the Laptop and Projector to the meeting! Subjects available at present:
- Health and the environment
- CFS: causes and options
- CFS and nutrition
- Stress management
We have difficulty keeping up with all the needs of coordinating this growing support network. We already have lots of Area Contacts, and a Webmaster. We need some volunteers:-
- A Newsletter editor, and help with distribution and postage of the Newsletter
- Collecting and collating new printed information
- Maintain surveillance of the Internet for new and relevant information.
